Planning a kids' party in Grosse Pointe or St. Clair Shores comes with one question we hear constantly: "Which inflatable should I get?" It's a great question — and the answer depends on a few things that are easy to think through ahead of time. Here's how we guide every family we work with.
Step 1
How old are the kids?
Age is the single biggest factor in choosing an inflatable.
Ages 2–5
Stick with a standard bouncer. Our Pink Celebration Bouncer and Sports Bouncer are 14'×14' — a manageable, enclosed space that keeps little ones safe and keeps parents sane. Younger kids don't need more; they need contained chaos.
Ages 5–10
This is the sweet spot for combo units. Our Rainbow Castle Combo and Dual Slide Combo each include a slide, a bounce area, and a climbing wall. They run 19' without the pool, and 27' with it attached — so if you're going wet, make sure your yard accounts for that full footprint. For kids pushing toward 8 and up, we'd suggest adding the water feature — dry combos can start to feel a little tame for older kids once the novelty wears off. Wet, they're a completely different experience.
Ages 8 & Up
Go big. The Obstacle Course is 45 feet long and genuinely tires kids out — it's competitive, physical, and works equally well wet or dry. Our Volcano Slide is another crowd-pleaser for older kids who want serious height (19 feet!).
⚠ Mixed Age Groups
If you've got a wide range of ages — say, toddlers and older kids at the same party — consider adding our Dura Lite Castle Bouncer as a dedicated space for the little ones. It gives younger kids their own safe zone while older kids take on the bigger units, and it means you're not trying to manage age restrictions on a single inflatable all afternoon.
Step 2
Wet or Dry?
This is a Michigan question. If your party is in June, July, or August and you have a hose nearby, going wet adds an entirely new dimension. Our combo units and Obstacle Course can be run wet, and the Volcano Slide was purpose-built for it.
A few things to know about wet rentals:
- You supply the water (a standard garden hose connection works fine)
- Wet rentals are priced slightly higher — typically $100 more
- Plan for a drying period before we pick up — usually 30–60 minutes after your party ends
If you're unsure, dry is always a solid choice. Many families do dry all summer and still have a fantastic time.
Step 3
What's your yard situation?
We recommend 5 feet of clear space on all sides of the unit — not just the footprint — to account for the blower, anchor ropes, staking area, and a safe landing zone around the perimeter. Here are the dimensions for each unit:
| Inflatable | Dimensions | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Sports Bouncer or Pink Celebration Bouncer | 14'×14' | Small yards, driveways |
| Rainbow Castle Combo / Dual Slide Combo | 19'×13' dry · 27'×13' with pool | Mid-size yards |
| Volcano Slide | 29'×13' | Mid-size yards |
| Obstacle Course | 45'×11' | Large yards, parks |

Step 4
How many kids?
Here's a rough guide based on what we've seen work:
| # of Kids | Inflatable |
|---|---|
| Up to 10 | Any of our bouncers work great |
| 10–15 kids | Step up to a combo unit for more space and variety |
| 15+ kids | Obstacle Course or Volcano Slide keeps larger groups moving and entertained |
| 30+ kids | Multi-unit rentals — different units running simultaneously means no bottlenecks and happy kids at every age level |
Bottom Line
| Toddler party? | Bouncer or Pink Celebration Bouncer |
| Mixed ages? | Add the Dura Lite Castle Bouncer for the little ones |
| Kids 5–10, backyard birthday? | Rainbow Castle and Dual Slide Combos (wet if it's summer) |
| Older kids or bigger crowd? | Obstacle Course or Volcano Slide |
| Summer heat? | Add the wet option — trust us |
